Teen Style Trend Alert!!!! I am so excited…….Balmain collaborated with H&M to create a new Balmain and H&M collection line that will be much more affordable, making the gorgeous designs of Balmain something that a teen girl, like me, doesn’t just have to dream about anymore. For a long time Balmain has been one of my favorite labels, though I don’t have even one item in my closet. (Are you listening Olivier Rousteing, help a girl out) The reason is that the price of Balmain is not something I could ever afford, all I could do was drool over their new collections and dream….until now!
First a little background, Balmain recently appointed a new creative director, Olivier Rousteing, which in my humble opinion was a brilliant move. Rousteing is young, a brilliant designer and social media savvy. I believe that for these reasons Rousteing was able to see the powerhouse move of collaborating with H&M to create a line that would allow teens and young adults a chance to own one of the most coveted labels, Balmain. H&M has in the past collaborated with other fashion houses, but I predict, this collaboration will be the most successful ever in the history of fashion. Hats off and a huge thank you to Balmain, Olivier Rousteing and H&M for this early Christmas gift!
Flip through any magazine and you will spot a celebrity sporting a Balmain design, from Beyonce and the trendsetting Military jacket to the Taylor Swift squad. (Taylor Swift wore a white cutout jumpsuit from Balmain’s 2015 Spring Summer collection to the Billboard awards this past May and it has been sold out everywhere since). While teens could admire all the red carpet looks worn by young style icons like Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner to name a few, few teens could afford to purchase the items. While I am all about teen style and teen fashion, I am 100% against wearing a copy of a designer. Replicating a designer’s work is stealing. These designers worked hard to get where they are and buying a copy of their work is wrong in my humble opinion. This is just another reason I am loving this collaboration. Last night, Balmain & H&M held a fashion show to showcase the new line. The line will include clothing, shoes, belts, earrings, handbags, boots, jackets and so much more!
What I love about Balmain’s collections are that they are edgy, elaborate and you can mix them with a casual look, like jeans or leather leggings. I love the fabrics and the embellishments they infuse in their designs and Balmain X H&M is no exception. Let’s take a look at some of my favs from this collection:
Get out your Holiday wish lists….Balmain X H&M hits retail stores on November 5th and will most definitely be the must have items for all you fashionistas!
Thought for the day…..be original, don’t be a copycat. Whether it’s the clothes you wear or the decisions you make, be original, be authentic and be you. When it comes to style, nobody wants to walk into a room where everyone is wearing the same outfit. Be brave enough to stand out and and stand up.
